Affinity groups: Turn volunteer hours into funds for your organization

Radhika Makhija – STARBUCKS

Companies are working harder than ever to recruit and retain top talent so they must demonstrate they are in line with their employees’ values. This means engaging with the community through nonprofit affiliation resulting in human and financial capital for your organization. A strong corporate development strategy should not overlook the powerful role that employees can play within their company, whether this is in the form of corporate matching gifts, workplace giving campaigns, employee service days, or activities directly related to their line of business, such as “hackathons.”  You will gain insight from representatives of three of this region’s top companies, Karen Bergin from Microsoft, Radhika Makhija from Starbucks and Wendy Weiker from Puget Sound Energy. Learn how workplace engagement including the role of affinity (resource) groups can benefit your organization.
